The best Santa experiences sell out before December starts. This guide tracks every Santa visit worth booking, with dates, prices, and when to act.
Some appearances are casual and free. Some involve breakfast, reindeer, professional photos or a resort experience. Some require reservations weeks in advance, and a few of the best ones disappear before most families have even started thinking about December.
This guide is our attempt to put the whole Santa season in one place, with the things that matter to parents: when it happens, whether you need to book, what it costs, what age it is best for, and how likely you are to miss it if you wait.
Age guide: “Ideal for” is our recommendation; official venue restrictions are listed separately.
Details and availability can change, so use the official booking link before making the drive.
Best Santa experiences to book now
Ojai Valley Inn — Breakfast with Santa
Dec. 18–20, 9–11:30 AM
Ideal for: 2+
Status: BOOK NOW
This is the most complete Santa experience currently confirmed in the region. Breakfast is at The Farmhouse and includes a buffet, Santa, live reindeer and a keepsake photo.
Price: $95 adult / $50 child age 12 and under, plus tax and gratuity.
This is the kind of event where the experience itself is the point, not simply getting a photo.
Buellton Winter Fest — Breakfast with Santa
Sun. Dec. 6
Ideal for: 2+
Status: BOOK NOW
Two reservation-required seatings are currently scheduled at the Buellton Rec Center: 9–10 AM and 10:30–11:30 AM.
This is the more community-oriented breakfast option and a good fit if you are already planning to make a Santa Ynez Valley day of it.
Solvang Julefest — Santa’s Village
Saturdays + Sundays Nov. 28–29; Dec. 5–6, 12–13 and 19–20, 12–4 PM
Ideal for: 2+
Status: CONFIRMED
Photos with Santa run on weekend afternoons in Solvang Park as part of Julefest.
This is the easiest Santa experience to combine with a larger holiday day in Solvang because the town itself is part of the outing.
Santa Ynez Valley Holiday Lights Festival
Dec. 4–6, 11–13 and 18–20, 5–8:30 PM
Ideal for: 2+
Status: TICKETS COMING SOON / EXPECTED TO SELL OUT
Santa is included with admission every festival evening at the Santa Ynez Valley Botanic Garden in River View Park, Buellton.
The organizer is already warning that the event is expected to sell out, which makes this one to watch early rather than treating it as a spontaneous December outing.
Luxury Santa experiences
The Ritz-Carlton Bacara — 12 Days of Wonder
Dec. 15–26
Ideal for: 3+
Status: RESERVATIONS OPEN FOR HOLIDAY PROGRAMMING
Bacara has confirmed Santa experiences as part of its 2026 holiday program, along with daily family workshops from 12–2 PM in Village Hall.
The resort now has a “Reserve Your Seats” path live, but the exact Santa visit dates and times are not yet clearly broken out on the public page.
This remains one of the strongest premium-hospitality watches because Bacara tends to build a full holiday environment around the visit rather than a simple photo line.
Rosewood Miramar Beach — Merry Miramar Santa watch
Ideal for: 2+
Status: WATCHING
Rosewood’s 2026 holiday booking hub is already live for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, but a current Santa meet-and-greet schedule has not yet been published.
Their seasonal kickoff event, previously a Christmas tree lighting, includes a free meet-Santa moment, which makes the kickoff itself worth catching even before the full schedule is announced.
Word has spread about the snow pile, the reindeer pen, and great cocktails for mom and dad. This is a high-priority watch because the Miramar Santa experience is exactly the kind of thing that can become scarce quickly once dates are released.
San Ysidro Ranch
Status: WATCHING
No 2026 Santa or family holiday appearance is currently published on the Ranch’s official experiences pages.
We are keeping this on the watch rather than carrying forward any prior-year assumptions.
Santa photos around town
Santa Barbara Children’s Dentistry — Night with Santa
Ideal for: 0+
Status: WATCHING
In 2025, our kids’ dentist hosted a Night with Santa at the Santa Barbara office: a dancing Santa on the roof, a hot dog stand, popcorn, and a Santa photo op. The 2026 date is not posted yet, so treat that as recurrence evidence, but this was an awesome free Santa event and one to watch.
Montecito Country Mart
Ideal for: 0+
Status: WATCHING
The Country Mart ran reservation-required Santa photos twice in December 2025. No 2026 dates are posted yet.
This is one of the events most worth catching quickly when it returns because it is convenient, photogenic and historically reservation-based.
La Cumbre Plaza
Ideal for: 0+
Status: WATCHING
The official 2026 event calendar extends into December but does not yet list current Santa/photo dates.
Paseo Nuevo
Ideal for: 0+
Status: WATCHING
In 2025, Paseo Nuevo ran Selfies with Santa on December weekends in the Peppermint Parlor alongside other holiday programming. The 2026 schedule is not yet posted, so treat that only as recurrence evidence.
Christmas Day Santa
Ojai Valley Inn — Christmas Grand Buffet
Dec. 25, seatings at 12 PM and 4 PM
Ideal for: 2+
Status: BOOK NOW
Santa will mingle during the Christmas Grand Buffet at The Farmhouse.
Price: $195 adult / $65 child age 12 and under.
This is a Santa sighting wrapped into a full Christmas Day resort meal rather than a standalone visit.
Our current ranking by experience
Best overall Santa experience
Ojai Valley Inn Breakfast with Santa. The combination of breakfast, Santa, live reindeer and a keepsake photo makes this the most complete confirmed experience on the board right now.
Best easy Santa day
Solvang Julefest. The Santa visit can be folded into an entire holiday day without the event itself carrying all of the pressure.
Best event to watch before it sells out
Santa Ynez Valley Holiday Lights Festival. The organizer is already signaling scarcity.
Best luxury Santa watch
Rosewood Miramar Beach. No current date yet, but this is exactly the kind of release we want to catch before the general December rush.
Best premium resort program
The Ritz-Carlton Bacara. The broader holiday programming makes it useful even beyond the Santa visit.
What we are still watching
We are actively watching for 2026 dates and booking releases from: Rosewood Miramar Beach, Montecito Country Mart, La Cumbre Plaza, Paseo Nuevo, San Ysidro Ranch, individual Bacara Santa sessions, and other premium hotel and community Santa experiences around Santa Barbara, the Santa Ynez Valley and Ojai.
One last thing
When a strong experience opens, the important information is not simply that Santa will be there. It is when booking opens and whether you need to act immediately.
That is what Hometown will keep updating here.
The best Santa experience is the one your family can actually get into without turning December into another administrative project.
We will keep this guide current as new dates are released, reservations open and the best slots begin to disappear.
Bookmark this guide and check back. We update it weekly, daily when tickets are moving, as dates are announced, bookings open, and details change.
